No Dash Lights

Postby Murphy » Fri Apr 24, 2009 10:01 pm

None of my dash lights work, but all the gauges do and everything else is fine. No flickering or anything and the high/low beam switch works fine. I'm not far from cracking the dash and diving in. I know to check the grounds back there, but I was wondering if there is a low voltage regulator/circuit board in the dash headlight dimmer switch. I don't know if that is where they are on these rigs (81 wag), or somewhere else. I need to replace the headlight switch anyhow so I'm hoping to bust two knuckles for the price of one.

TIA

My last one had the same problem. Ended up being a dirty rheostat on the headlight switch.

I just worked it a bunch and it finally started working.

I've had the headlight switch for quite a while, it's just waiting on me to crack the dash to replace the upper speedometer cable and re-glue a lens or two. I wanna try and do all that at once.

Is there a separate low voltage regular for the dash lights that I need to look at while I'm in there?

Not that I'm aware of, the rheostat in the headlight switch takes care of that.

Pull the dash & put a voltage meter on the Pc board where the light connect to see if you havevoltage if not it is probavly the light switch.
