sucessful Jeep dually build ?

So what does it take to complete building yourself a DRW FSJ truck ?
After doing several searches around the internet it seems that all the attempts to build such a rig has ended in failure.

That is unless the Jeep was a DRW truck to begin with, Is it NOT possible to build a good successful full sized Jeep dually ?
Seems like lots of fitment issues with swapping bodies and frames around, That all who have attempted it gave up and just bought another brands truck. Or atleast the thread ends and nobody knows if it was finished or not.

JP Coutts did a nice job on his OEM dually. You can contact him at IFSJA. Fitting body to frame is not big deal. I was settting mine up on late model axles and doing the frame mounts for the springs was simple. I got rid of most of my stuff when I was planning to move out of State and had a job offer I eventually turned down. If you want a built Buick 455 set up with a bell/adapter for a NV4500 let me know;) I have a couple front Dana 60 axles too....

I would like to achieve a stock stance sort of factory looking DRW J truck. 8lug DRW axles under a J10 shortbed would be sweet, Toss a nice aggressive set of 7.50-16s under it.

Ideally that's about what I would like anyway, Powered by 360/T18/D20/D60-70x4.10s !

A stock stance will require you to go spring under axle on the front D60. At least one member at IFSJA has done that. You can mount a cab n chassis rear D70 and locate the spring hangers inside the frame, tub the wheel wells but the tires just clear the frame. I have some pics of it done on a wrecker frame.... not sure where that leaves you for the fender well/flare but there are pics here (the Wyoming dually in the registry) of a bed that had the well/flare widened to fit.

I will have to check that out, Just got done doing a transmission and rear end swap in my shortbed Comanche :D
Replaced the growling howling AX-4 with rebuilt AX-5 and that whining D35 got replaced by an AMC-20 8-)

I figured going from a 4spd n 3.73s to a 5spd and 4.10s might have dogged it out a bit in the high side but it didn't runs about the same RPM/MPH in 5th as the old setup in 4th 67mph@3,000rpm to 70mph@3,000rpm and way snappier off the line.

I also corrected the speedo by swapping speedo gear with one from the Comanche I got the rear end from according to GPS its spot on.

Anywho enough side tracking back on topic, I have habit of that my apologies onward and upward :cool:
