Factory crew cab JTruck built for the US in '63

Postby Elliott » Fri Dec 25, 2009 8:26 am

Have you seen the post over at IFSJA about the guy in Vancouver WA with the truck he claims is one of five built for the forestry dept? It' looks to be the real thing and the first I've heard of produced for the US market. We know they built them for the Australia and Sweden, actually I think Australia built their own with the parts supplied but this is a pretty cool discovery. This particular truck has been updated with what looks like J20 axles and a Saginaw PS box.

Here's the thread on it over there: http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=114197

Here's the forsale thread: http://www.ifsja.org/forums/vb/showthread.php?t=114199

Ive seen it, the guy wants to sell it for $2k :eek2:, its a rare truck and all but its needs tons of TLC, id probably give him half that, it would be a sweet truck to restore, someone on the site needs to get it make sure it doesnt go to waste, I would if I could

If you've seen it does it have the Special Order tag and number on a plate in the driver's door frame? The last I heard it was supposedly fabbed in OR which I doubt would have been sanctioned by Kaiser as a Special Order... For Jeep history buffs this would be a first and very important to document if it was actually a Special Order and not just some afermarket fab job which it currently appears to be...
