Elliott: Hydroboost questions

Postby Whiplash » Mon May 11, 2009 10:31 pm

Hello elliott

I bought an Astro HB unit from you about a year ago. I"m ready to resume my Hydroboost conversion and get the rest of the components I need

The vehicle application is my '78 Widetrack Cherokee

I remember you mentioning that I could either adapt my current power steering hoses to work or I could use an '80-newer FSJ box with the o-ring seal. Is this true?

What else will I need to complete my parts pile?

Thanks in advance :notworthy:

You can accomplish this two ways:

1) replace your PS pump and box with '80+ equipment
2) modify hoses to match

Typically guys want to modify the hoses. In order to do that buy two (metric o-ring) pressure hoses for the '85 GM K30 with 350ci and hydroboost. Bend then ends up at the pump and box to match up better. Cut the ends off and install the 3/8" flare nuts from your current hose (small nut at the pump, larger nut at the box) and then re-flare. Remember to pick up about 6' of 3/8" return line from bulk when you buy the two pressure hoses.

Alternatively you could drop some coin and run AN adapters and stainless braided hoses.
