Carolina Classic
Owner: Ben Riddle
Business: Semi retired/self employed
Year/make/model: 1966 Jeep J-3000 truck
Engine/drive train: 327 Jeep engine with 4-speed transmission and all 4-wheel drive shifter
Notes/quotes: Ben Riddle said he has always loved antique cars and trucks. He saw this vehicle listed in the Iwana paper some years ago. He located it in Taylorsville, went to look at it with a friend and bought it. They drove it home that day. The truck has not been driven on the road since he brought it home, although he does start it up occasionally. This is a 1-ton dually truck with 4-wheel drive that is manually engaged by twisting the knob on the axle. The truck was manufactured by the Kaiser automobile corporation. Riddle said, "This is a very rare vehicle." The truck is equipped with power steering and power booster brakes. The frame has been lengthened 3 feet and reinforced to carry a large camper that was mounted on the back for an extended trip to Alaska many years ago. There is a power wench mounted on the front of the truck. Riddle would like to see the truck restored but has come to realize that he is not able to do the job at this time.
