Jim purchased this J300 truck with 43,000 miles on it from the original owner, a timber faller, who worked up until he died at ’87. The original owner approached his local dealership requesting a one ton dually Thriftside and was told Jeep didn’t build one. When he told them if Jeep didn’t build one for him he would buy a Ford instead the dealership obtained one for him that had the rear fenders widened to fit the dual tires and a wider rear bumper was fabricated. This truck has OEM power steering, a four speed tranny, 230 CI Tornado motor, 2 bbl carb and an alternator was added. The rear of the frame has been braced at the spring post mounts for the addition of the block added for yarding logs. The tailgate has also been braced.
Jim says: “We live in Georgetown California which is the Gateway to the Rubicon Trail In fact we live off of Wentworth Springs road which was part of the original trail though it's paved now. Also the Jeep J300 spent it's entire life housed in a garage when it wasn't bound through the woods 600 yards from where it know dwells. That ol Jeep has been up on this ridge for 49 years.”
