Owner’s Comments: "I just bought a 1963 J 300 VIN# 3406D10058 4 speed dually out of a junk yard in New Jersey. The truck is kind of a basket case but all in tact, have clear title, engine complete and turns over. I.D plate inside of driver side door in good shape. The truck is a 4 speed. I towed it into my shop and started on it. First problem, bad ignition switch, had to run hot wire to coil, then still no spark. After cleaning points I finally had spark. Next no fuel, (bad pump), so I set up gravity feed. Next had to take off carb and blow out the gunk. Fuel and spark do = fire ( IT ACTUALLY RUNS). Next thing was it blew the oil filter apart (Never had that happen before), so I changed the filter and oil. Every time I revved it up, the gasket blew out of the oil filter. I guess the bottom end was all gunked up too. I changed to light weight oil and let it warm up slow and it runs great. The engine seems to be the original O.H.C. Tornado 230 w/2bbl carb."
